Founded just before the 75th birthday of the United States, The Wooster Brush Company is one of the oldest manufacturers of paint applicators in the USA. In 1851, the company founder Adam Foss began producing handmade bristle paintbrushes out of a small, two-story building in Wooster, Ohio. Since that time, Wooster Brush has contributed many milestones in the industry.
The Purdy story begins in 1925 when S. Desmond Purdy began building paint brushes in a converted 2-car garage in Oregon. His unswerving, uncompromising dedication to quality and excellence continue today. A man of strong principle, who believed that handcrafting the finest painting tools may take a little longer, but it was the only way to "build in" the characteristics and properties that assure superior coverage and unsurpassed performance that can only be found in Purdy tools.
